A review of process fault detection and diagnosis: Part III: Process history based methods
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this final part, we discuss fault diagnosis methods that are based on historic process knowledge. We also compare and evaluate the various methodologies reviewed in this series in terms of the set of desirable characteristics we proposed in Part I. This comparative study reveals the relative strengths and weaknesses of the different approaches. One realizes that no single method has all the desirable features one would like a diagnostic system to possess. It is our view that some of these methods can complement one another resulting in better diagnostic systems. Integrating these complementary features is one way to develop hybrid systems that could overcome the limitations of individual solution strategies. The important role of fault diagnosis in the broader context of process operations is also outlined. We also discuss the technical challenges in research and development that need to be addressed for the successful design and implementation of practical intelligent supervisory control systems for the process industries. # 2002 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.

In some statistical process control applications, the process data are not Normally distributed and characterized by the combination of both variable and attributes quality characteristics. Despite different methods which are proposed separately for monitoring multivariate and multi-attribute processes, only few methods are available in the literature for monitoring multivariate-attribute proce...
متن کاملA Review of Application of Signal Processing Techniques for Fault Diagnosis of Induction Motors – Part I
Abstract - Use of efficient signal processing tools (SPTs) to extract proper indices for fault detection in induction motors (IMs) is the essential part of any fault recognition procedure. The Part1 of the two parts paper focuses on Fourier-based techniques including fast Fourier transform and short time Fourier transform. In this paper, all utilized SPTs which have been employed for fault fete...
متن کاملApplication of Signal Processing Tools for Fault Diagnosis in Induction Motors-A Review-Part II
The use of efficient signal processing tools (SPTs) to extract proper indices for the fault detection in induction motors (IMs) is the essential part of any fault recognition procedure. The 2nd part of this two-part paper is, in turn, divided into two parts. Part two covers the signal processing techniques which can be applied to non-stationary conditions. In this paper, all utilized SPTs for n...
متن کاملStator Turn-to-Turn Fault Detection of Induction Motor by Non-Invasive Method Using Generalized Regression Neural Network
Condition monitoring and protection methods based on the analysis of the machine's current are widely used according to non-invasive characteristics of current transformers. It should be noted that, these sensors are installed by default in the machine control center. On the other hand, condition monitoring based on mathematical methods has been proposed in literature. However, they are model b...
متن کاملMonitoring and diagnosing a two-stage production process with attribute characteristics
Multistage process monitoring has recently attracted notable attention in that the statistical relationships between quality variables are taken into account. Here, we dealt with the problem of monitoring and diagnosing a two-stage production process with attribute characteristics in which the outgoing quality variable is impacted by the incoming quality variable from the first process stage....
